Certification

Did you know that dog training in the UK is still largely unregulated? That means finding a trainer who is ethical, skilled, and effective can feel like navigating a minefield.

Many conscientious trainers voluntarily join organisations such as The Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT), The Association of Pet Behaviour Counsellors (APBC), the Institute of Modern Dog Trainers (IMDT), or the Kennel Club Accredited Instructor Scheme (KCAI). Membership shows a commitment to high standards and ethical practice.

When looking for a trainer, don’t just check qualifications — Check for membership numbers or listings with reputable organisations. e.g., ABTC and the UK Dog Behaviour & Training Charter are great places to start.

I’ve been privileged to spend many years in formal education and hands-on vocational study, and rather than list every qualification and seminar attended, I’ve included only the highest levels of qualification achieved and professional membership current status. It’s all part of my commitment to bringing you the highest standard of dog training and behaviour support.
